Default HUmming...

I just bought a 99 si a few months ago and i noticed a humming. Before i bought it i brought it to the mechanic and he told me it was the bearings. however getting bearing replaced would be 500 bucks that i dont have. But the sound annoys the **** out of me. Someone told me i can prob just lube it up and they dont need to be replaced yet. Anyone have any other suggestions.

replace it. the bearings already been damaged, you cant just repack the bearing.

the bad bearing is getting heated up due to the extra friction and will fatigue the hub, ultimately leading to the destruction of your hub. at that point, your wheel falls off, and the only thing keeping it from rolling away from the car is the rotor being stuck in the caliper.

$500 is a lot to ask. find somewhere else to do it. but do it. all you need is a press to get it done.
