couple of my buddies said the swap is a bitch to do. how hard is it? what parts do i need. besides the d16z6 long block/head/intake manifold/distrb/ can somebody tell me all the parts they used..i prefer the cheapest route..thanks guys..

that's the easyest swap you could ever think of.
If you plan on swapping the complete engine, which you can. this is what you need to do.
1. Use the CRX si or HF injectors. Do not use the OBDI or OBDII injectors.
2. Use the CRX HF or Si injector resistor box
2. Use a CRX Si ECU
3. Use a CRX si or HF distributor
4. If you have a D16Z6 head, you will have to modify the distribitor mounting legs.
if you have a D16Y8 head the distributor will fit right in, no mods to the legs.
5. Use ALL the engine mounts and brakets from the CRX engine.
You can use the DX tranny/axles no problem
For wiring, use the instructions for a DX to ZC swap.
Hybrid Honda has those instructions, which are very simple.
For VTEC activation, use a VTEC controller.
VTEC controllers have the added benefit of allowing you to pay with the air/fuel ratio. Take the car to a Dyno, and the VTEC controller will definitely help you make more power.

You can also go the OBDI convertion, Blown90hatch sells those.

or you could forget all that crap and buy a non-OBD to OBD1 conversion harness and p28 ecu....use the Z6 motor, intake, distributor, everything...plug the harness in, plug the ecu in...connect a couple wires and your set, plus it will run better off of the p28 ecu that goes with the D16Z6

if you go with the p28 ecu, can you just do d16y8 head, intake manifold, and throttle body? would you use a y8 or z6 distributor with the p28 ecu? would that all you would need if I went with the p28 ecu? which timing belt should i use with the y8 head? what about y8 water pump?

you can find some info here http://crx.honda-perf.org/articles/z6swap/z6swap.html it is for the Z6 though, but it should give you a basic idea

rule 1 always match distributor to ecu and ecu to distributor
rule 2 always match timing belt to waterpump and waterpump to timing belt

p28 ecu? use p28 distrib.
y8 head? i'd throw a y8 waterpump on there. you should be replacing it anyway, and then use the y8 timing belt.
