Default CD Deck Cutting Out But Still Has Power. Searched To No Avail.

I have an Alpine double din deck. No idea the model. Its from Japan and plays CD and MDs. I dont have MDs so have no idea if that even works or not. Anyways long story short songs will just cut out and then come back on or it will say "Compact Disc Error" then I have to hit play again and sometimes it will come back. Other times I have to eject the CD and put it back in and it will work.

Ive noticed that sometimes the CD is warm when I take it out and when I downshift it tends to cut out a lot more. There is still power to the deck at all times. The music just stops. Anyone have any idea what this might be?

Thanks

Is it overheating???

If it "resets" itself after you eject the CD, sounds like a potential microprocessor issue, like it's locking up...

Have you tried resetting the deck? Is there a reset button? Try pulling all power from the deck for a few minutes, and starting over...

All I can think of right now...

I have no idea if it is overheating. I just got the deck and have only used it for like 3 months and it has been doing it since the first week I got it. It seems though as time goes on it gets considerably worse and have no idea the problem. The CD is not amazingly hot just warm.

No it doenst reset it self. The CD player stays on at all times unless I turn it off manually.

i have an alpine right now, and mine plays cd's but the screen and all the buttons freeze up on me. called tech support and they said it's the microprocessor starting to go out. this deck is semi-brand new out of the box but old design. it might be something that alpine has to deal with and fix.

i also get the whole "disc error" when i turn the car on and everythign starts up. i could of turned my car off 5 min.s prior, turn it back on and get that error, when everything was working fine 5 mins before.. idk, it's weird but my new Pioneer AVIC-D2 will replace it soon and i can sell this to someone else

I dont think that its an over heating problem though because it will happen right away when I turn on the car. Like I left from work and it didnt even play, just went right to error. Could it be that the lens is messed up, not alligned correctly, or just dusty?

very true, i mean i made my past statement with the support of bad info. i read somewhere that having a lense cleaner in a deck is not recomended.. like there are some things it can be ran in, and others it can't and would mess the device up. maybe i'm getting it confused with my old Xbox system before i tried to fix it and ended up taking it back

well i will try the lense cleaner, it's just the simple one with the little Ned Flanders pushbroom brushes on it right?

And as I said, it's just something to try first, before you spend money getting the unit fixed, because even if that is all that is wrong, [crap on lens] a repair shop will do a full cleaning and lens alignment and charge $75 - $100 or more. 94
