Any High Temp Hose to withstand exhaust temps for crankcase evac?
I chose to make my own catchcan setup that includes a 5/8" diameter heater hose that is attached to a custom catch can routed to a steel backslash cut fitting inserted into my exhaust piping. The fitting is rougly 3 feet from the turbo so obviously it gets extremely hot. Anyone know of an affordable type of hose that can withstand the heat? The hose is for vacuum purposes, so only air flows through it for the most part. The original heater hose lasted less than 300 miles before melting itself from the fitting on the exhaust.

Not so affordable, looking for a cheaper, yet reliable solution. Besides most stainless steel braided hose is only rated up to 400-500 degrees farenheit.

I have a slashcut by my collector in my header running to my valve-cover-I use the braided PVC (garden hose) that you can get at Lowes or Home Depot--it works fine, and I prefer it because it is clear and you can see how much oil you are pulling out. Also, good idea is to get a vaccum gauge and tee it off your evac line--this way you can see how much (if any) vacuum you are actually pulling on your crankcase. Everybody says it won't work with mufflers but I got a vaccum gauge and at high rpm I pull about 3-4 psi and 1 psi at idle even with a muffler with a silencer in it--2 3/8" OD exhaust...
For the catch can idea a really neat idea is to use the air/water seperators that you find on air compressors--the small ones with the clear plastic bottles at the bottom. They work great, have 3/8" npt fittings, have a drain, and are only around $30 at Home Depot. Incidentally, Steeda sells a relabeled $30 compressor water seperator -- for the same purpose (air/oil seperation) "for Mustangs" relabeled and he sells it for $70!!
I didn't read your whole post about having the slashcut near the turbo--in that case I don't think the braided PVC will work to well--as it gets quite soft when it heats up--try the Aeroquip socketless hose--expensive but tough as nails--guarentee you won't have a proble with that hose--and you can use it with standard barbed fittings.
