Default tranny removal problems

i have a 95 ex coupe d16z6 and im trying to take the tranny off to put my 6 puck in. i took all the tranny bolts and the mount bolts and removed the axles and starter and the flywheel plate. i was wondering is the flywheel plate supposed to come off? and do i have to drop the shiftlinkage to drop the tranny? help is very appreciated!

You will need to remove all the bolts and the shift linkage.
don't forget the rear, the side, and the front mounts.

also the tranmission may need some prying to get off.

The dowel pins are often tight

well, i would recommend disconnecting the shift linkage from the tranny...makes things alot easyer to work with. also, yes that plate can come off...im assuming your talking about the flywheel inspection plate

Don't forget the brackets between the block and the trans.

The shift linkage will not cause the trans not to seperate form the block. You have something else connected still.

In my experince a slight wiggle will seperate the trans form the block.

you may be forgetting the one 17mm bolt that sits very close to the 3 bolts on the rear mount that connect to the tranny...maybe

There are 2 brackets that connect the engine and trans. on the bottom next to the oil pan...should be 17mm heads into the trans and 12's in to the bottom of the block.

ok, just a quick question since we are on the topic of tranny removal...I reinstalled a z6 tranny to my y7 motor but now oil leaks...I've checked all the bolts and linkage. Also only put 2 quarts of oil. But still leaks..what's wrong?

Where's is the leak? Remember, everything flows downhill...so start looking at the top and work your way down 'till you find the source. You wouldn't believe how many leaky cam seals have been called "leaky trannys" by my customers.
