Default Audio Security System

Just bought a 03 Accord, had a new batttery put in, the audio system reset itself. I have the original security code and serial number. But, does not work. I tried to redo the battery and start over. No luck. I live 2.5 hours from nearest dealership, trying to figure out solution--before I make the drive.

The stereo is 6 cd changer. The manual says you get 10 tries to put in correct code, otherwise the system has to be on for 1/2 hour, to retry. Then had the battery disconnected and them reconnected and then tried to imput code again...

any ideas???

thanks in advance---

It might be possible that the original owner had the 6 disc CD put in as an option and thats why the codes don't match. On those newer units you can push the 5 and 8 buttons and the faceplate will flash up the serial number. Then see if they match
