how to remove oil pan from block - cant break gasket seal.
ok, this is a k20a3 so there are no pry points. i took out 14 bolts and 2 nuts holding the oil pan on. i also removed the 3 bolts holding the clutch case cover as well as the cover. i tried wedging a chisel between the block and oil pan but i cant seem to break the gasket seal no matter what i do.
car is chillin on jack stands, need some help asap
oh and as for the seal cutter in the helms, i called autozone about it and they told me to use pliers
cant find anything like it on harbor freight either, anyone got a part number or anything?

just some suggestions...
because the A3 pan is steel, a deadblow mallet could be used to knock the pan off. don't hit it so hard as to dent the pan. no mallet? try using a block of wood and a hammer.
i don't think i would use a chisel. i thought the block was aluminum. if you chew up that aluminum mating surface, it could cause leaking haedaches in the future.
maybe use wooden wedges between the mating surfaces, like the ones home depot or lowes sell to shim door frames. maybe a strong, plastic wedge. basically a material that wouldn't gouge the block.

i did buy some permatrex gasket remover, it helped, but its still not budging. kung fu, i do have concerns about scratching up the block, as i seem to have done so already in some small portion, i tried banging the pan with a rubber mallet, but there isnt much room to give it much force. i ll try that again though. still workin on it....
edit: got it off in about 15 minutes today, funny how that works.
