trans problem

Default trans problem

i have a 97 civic and my tranny is gone to ****. 4th is gone and 5th locks the shifter in the gear. i dont drive it i drive my 92 civic so i can work on it but i dont know much at all about trannys.so my question is does any body know anything about this or maybe a walk thru or somthing.i dont want to pay a shop alot of money if its somthing i can do with a little help. thanks for the help

http://www.spoonhonda.com, go there and get the serivce manual for your car, tranny rebuild on our cars is very easy dude, done it 3 times myself, getting it out is the hard part, prepare yourself to replace the bearings they almost always go bad, especailly the input shaft, and the rear countershaft bearins pressed into the case, it tends to walk out of its hole, making clearances really messy, and can damage the shafts and the gears on them, pull it as soon as you can, prepare to spend 80 bucks on bearings, and depending on the synchros, they are around 550 for the whole set from honda.
