h22
im new to this site and im am going to look at a 93 prelude with an has apparently swapped in it, what do i need to look for to make sure it a true h22 and not the old 2.2 vtec motor or are all 2.2 liter v tec motors the good ones like in the type sh? soory for any inacuracy and do you think it would have a problem with smog?
Look for the engine code. H22a1 means you have the OBD1 H22 while H22a4 means you have the OBDII motor. H22a means you have a JDM motor. You can see this engine code near the flywheel timing light hole. Next to the exhaust manifold.
I am not sure what you are referring to as the "old 2.2 VTEC motors". The only 2.2L VTEC motor for the prelude is the H22. The H23 and F22 are NON-VTEC motors.

ok so it is and older h22 motor odb1 i think its the 94 style h22 but its jdm, the smog thing scares me i think it has and egr valve som1 said to me the newer h22 jdm motors dont have egr but this is older h22 i have pics of it it just says h22a on the block no numbers after it but it has numbers under it do you think this car is worth 3500 it has 200,000k on body but supposably 65k on jdm motor it runs pretty good and it looks pretty good, i have pics of what i think is the egr valve near the intake manifold near the fire wall if i can find out how to post em
is it the same for the h23 ...for example the h23a1 just means i got the obd1 h23. And whats so great about the 95 prelude. And one more did honda ever make a prelude with h23 vtec stock
