my car at any given point will bog out almost exactly the feeling of a red line but its not redlining i don't know whats going on with it also the ecu is flashing 17 times. this is the vss .is it possible to cause this symptom? also when im going over bumps is bogs my speedometer is disconnected from the fire was is that whats causing the ecu flashing by the way my car is a 90 crx

well your computer is telling you VSS (speedomoter) and you have your speedometer unhooked. I'd try hooking it back up and reset the computer and see where you stand.

damn man, my speedometer didnt work for about an hour so maybe thats why my car ran ok. when it is cold it will jump a little but no check engine light and when the motor is warm it runs fine.

when the car is off, disconnect the negitive terminal on the battery for ten seconds...this will reset the ECU and you wont throw a code 17 no more...
does it feel like its lacking power?have u checked the timing?

A bad speed sensor will make it run like crap.

tell me if this makes any sence to u, the wire was cut and taped off also there is only one wire coming out of the harness that i think is the wire that goes there on the thermostat, so with that being said i connected the wires back together and the problem was fixed as far as running, and driving but, code 17 is still there i dont get it though cause my speedo werks but the code is still there and ive reset the ecu but here is a pic of what i did..

I know this has nothing to do with my post but i just wanted to get some opinions
here is a pic of my car when i got it back

and here is a pic of it now does it look aright???

Could just be in limp mode from the CEL. Get it cleared and see if it's still "limping"

limp mode is when the ecu is trying to "preserve" the car i guess when something major usually is wrong. it wont let you rev above a certain point. its a safe mode deal,

and i think you said you tried this but disconnect battery for like 10-20 secs and it should clear, thats if the VSS is hooked up good and proper.

you dont have a big stereo do you? like do you ahve a battcapp? I do, and it holds power after battery is disconnected so you should try to take out teh ECU/Hazard fuse. that resets your ECU also.

just a pointer.
