ok i have a 96 civic hatch and i wanted to add power windows and locks and while i was at it i was going to prob add power mirrors also, so i bought a CTR power windows and locks kit, which i believe and was told is from a 99 so i thought i could use a 99-00 EX or SI floor wiring harness to hook them up but ive heard the wiring between the 96-98 and the 99-00 is different,
i am taking pics tonight to show you guys what i have and the connector style
i have all from a donor CTR civic, i have the switches and wiring going to a while box on each side and on the driver side there is another box that is black there is also a metal piece on each side that collapses on itself im sure its the piece the window goes in i also have a set of wires that are taped together with a tag that says to pwr mirrors on each side, the only thing i do not have is the handle u pull to open the doors i have the black panels red inserts switches everything,

so what do i need to hook this up in my 96 civic, i have searched posted on 2 other forums and i have not found a definite anwser yet, i really wanted to stay oem on my pwr windows and my car but i am getting frustrated, i know i need a floor wiring harness to basically connect the 2 doors and i know you can run wires yourself and connect them without the harness but i want it done right i plan on keeping this car forawhile so i am builing it right and the way i want it,

of you have some wiring diagrams that could help me out i would appreciate it or some info

back to top i know someone has to have some info on this? if you have an idea about it will not work it will work etc i need some help sorting this out, i would like pwr windows locks etc but it s turning into a hassle i might just ebay it and get some usdm ones i know can be plug and play but i would like to just keep what i got

 

Well i have found out the CTR window kit i have is from a 99 CTR i found a tag with model and year, so i need to know what i need to do to get 99 CTR power windows with door wiring to work on my 96 civic do i need a 99-00 floor harness and re pin it ro just wire it myself with no floor harness or use a 96-8 style floor harness and try and go that route?

 

i guess you can cut the harnesses and match up the wires. get a 99-00 ex floor harness and cut the connectors to make em fit

 

that is what i thought use a 99-00 floor harness and modify it,

i find it hard to believe i am the first person this has happened to

the thing with the jdm rails, the motors will be mounted on the other side. the connectors will be switched. the passenger side will have the drivers motor. I had to reverse them, then just got oem ex and called it a night.

 

please be more specific i want the drivers side switches to be on the drivers side, are you saying you got a civic ex wiring to switch them to the USDM spec side? so then i would need 99-00 civic SI or EX floor and door harnesses? please elaborate

 

people must learn not everything from a ctr is ideal...

 

yeah i agree but i got this in whit alot of other parts and want to make it work has no one else tried this? it cant be that hard to do, im havent been into the scene for a long time but there was 2 guys on clubcivic with this done, like i said before, I DID NOT get this b/c it was CTR i just need pwr windows locks etc,

anyone with some usefull info on how to make it work?

im tryin to figure the samething on my 96ek, well u dont have to use a floor harness its to much work, all i did is ran 4wires from the driver side to the passenger side, connected the power for the passenger window and the ground and 1 wire that goes from the driver side harness and i got the passenger side window to work, for some reason the driver side doesnt work, because maybe i forgot to connect a wire wich i dont have the diagram too. thats all u need is a driver side wiring diagram.

teamsoy1320 if u want to buy it make an offer i got everything listed plus the CTR door panels with the red recaro fabric bolsters, i plan on keeping it and making it work i found an older thread similiar to this one ill link to it, i have it at work saved so i think if i take my knowledge the info from it and dig into some schematics it can be done, i was thinking about using a 99-00 harness and re-pinning what i have to bu i dont know if thatd even an option
