ok so my car been idleing funny so i take of my distru cap and see that the plastic shield thing is missing do that have any thing to do with that. and do i need that peice thanks

 

Maybe not but i would keep it on.

 

Its a dust cover, doesn't do anything but protect the electrical parts of the dizzy from bits and pieces of whatever. The only way I can think that it would cause a problem is if something did somehow get in there like a little piece of metal and shorted some wires. But that's kinda improbable. What kind of funny idle are you experiencing. It might be your FITV or something like that. What all have you looked at?
