Heres the setup: mini-me 93 CX hatch, d15b8 rebuilt block, d16z6 head, z6 timing belt, z6 cam gear, BRAND NEW z6 distributor, BRAND NEW z6 starter, BRAND NEW z6 plug wires, BRAND new spark plugs. So after putting everything back in and installing the new wiring harness i got so i could run VTEC we tried to start the car. The car cranked over but would not start. Then we pulled the spark plugs in order to check for spark and there was none. I was getting a solid check engine light so we checked the stock P05 ECU and it was FRIED!! So i am using the stock wiring harness with only the MAP sensor, starter w/ground, injectors, coolant temp, and both distributor connectors plugged in with a P06 when i am trying to start it. I know vtec wont work now, but i am just trying to get the car started and avoid frying another ECU, which i think happened due to a bad wiring harness. I have taken a test light and checked the injector plugs on the harness, distributor plugs on the harness, wires inside the distributor, and they all light up. The car will crank over but there is no spark. the car is getting fuel, i can smell it in the cylinder where i have the plug out of. I have another car with a Z6, an EX coupe, i pulled the distributor off that and tried it on the hatch and still no spark. I have tried just about everything i know to do or check and i cant figure this out. The car needs to run very soon so any help or suggestions would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
are you sure there is no spark, do you have a tester? (They are like $25 from Snap-On)
I am also assuming, you checked the wires, firing order, etc. you have already eliminated the dizzy as part of the problem, so that is out.
Which in my opinion leaves 1 of 2 things,
(1)you said yourself that the wiring could be faulty, are the plugs mating good on the dizzy? Are breaks in the wiring? Are your wires hooked up to the correct positions? Maybe obtain a wiring diagram and check wires,
(2) is the computer good? getting signal from the comp when cranking etc.
