I did search but only found this for ls/vtec- I have a gsr with a chipped p28 ecu and I was taking the thing apart and see there is no knock sensor. What I need to know is will it work if I just buy a knock sensor or do I need to get a different ecu? Or is it not suck a big deal and I should just run the p28 without the sensor? The motor is getting rebuilt because it has been smoking bad for over a year and when I took the head off I saw one of the pistons was cracked!!! I just hope that does not happen again
ARe you sure that you do not have a knock sensor all dohc motors are equipped with a knock sensor it should be right next to the oil filter. i have never heard of a gsr not have a knock sensor. yet if the motor does not have one and you are running a single cam ecu 88-95 single cams never had a knock sensor so i believe you would be safe running without one. Yet if it bothers you that bad do a search for knock sensors and you will find posts that you can always tap one into the block in the right hole for the alternator bracket and always ground it and wire it to the ecu. That is what you have to do for and ls/vtec
Do you mean your block does not have a sensor, or your ecu doesn't have a knock board? Its hard to tell from your post. P28 ecu's do not have knock boards, but they can be added. I wouldn't worry about it though, they are not that effective to begin with. Just get your car tuned and don't worry about it.

That is the answer I was looking for- The block has the place for the knock sensor it is just filled in with a bolt. I have the P28 ECU and it like you said does not have the knock boards- Now I understand why the previous owner had no knock sensor. The car will be tuned by evans tuning in about a month. - Thanks for the info
