New motor & mounts = Rattle?
I'm about to have my car repainted and took it in to a local muffler shop to lower the exhaust a bit as its currently rubbing the rear lip.
I figured while the car was there I'd have them check a rattle that has been driving me crazy since I swapped my motor. Everything is pretty smooth though the whole rpm range except at 2500 where something is making the most god awful noise you've ever heard.
People have said that it may be the cat, a heat shield or the header rattling. I have never been able to pinpoint it myself. The guy at the shop advised it is due to the mounts passing the vibration through the frame.
I put in a B18 and hasport mounts. My question to you is this; is this a common problem and is there anyway to lessen the noise/vibration.
Thanks in advance

Rattles and stuff are just a byproduct of running stiff mounts. GET USED TO IT, cause more will surface over time. It just happens as a car ages.
Put your car up on jackstands and have a buddy rev the car up some in neutral, the car's vibration should make whatever is vibrating act up and then you can pinpoint it. Like said, usually a heatsheild or the cat. I had to remove many heat shields to stop all my rattles from stiff mounts and 3 inch diameter exhaust.

Similar experience. Solid mounts equate to lots of chassis vibration.
