Default Who has put aftermarket Motor mounts in their car?

My block is currently being sent out to Benson's to be completetly resleeved, and I decided that when its reinstalled, that I would replace my OEM motor mounts with stiffer aftermarket mounts. The shop told me that its going to rattle and will be louder. My question is how badly will it make noise? Will it be a huge annoyance?

I gave up after a while trying to get the motor mounts inserts in...BUT I did fill my driver side mount with 'window weld' and it certainly stiffened it up, made a considerable difference. It is a littttle more noticeable at idle, but very very tolerable for its purposes.

after bensons built my motor I put the poly inserts in.. it didnt make any more noise but the car vibrated a lot..

it was worth it.. no wheel hop and more solid shifts

I would do it again...

Wheel hop can lead to disaster

my friend put turn2 motor mounts in his gti. They are made of something like hard polyurithane and it made the car perform much better but on his vw their is a lot more rattles and creaks and the whole car vibrates, but I would put up with it for the advantages. On my honda I really doubt their would be as many rattles as on the vw since the interior materials are a bit softer.

my vibration was so bad I could barely read the A on my steering wheel when I was sitting at a light.. but I would still do it again

jimfab.com has a complete set of motor mounts and theya re top notch. They are not inserts they are the whole mount. Any mount that has a harder material that stock you will feel vibrations there is no way around it.

i have a HAsport's rear drag mount:

-real noisy at certain RPM...
-my whole interior(car) vibrates when engine's cold(pretty bad)...
-....but SOLID after warmed up...
-almost no engine movement...
-I like it...

I don't know if other people feel the same way i do tho...

I have motor mount inserts in and love em. And for the above post who said he gave up on trying to put them in, mine were a bitch to fit too, so I trimmed em a lil But I love how solid the car felt afterwards, like shifting and everything. It also helped since I saw my stock motor mounts were almost ripped all the way through which is why I'm thinking of either new stock ones or aftermarket ones (which I doubt anyone makes for my car)

Well i bought the Prothane mount kit and the Energy mount kit for my Integra. The shop owner did warn me though to keep an eye on the bolts holding the mounts. He said that the vibrations tend to rattle them loose quicker, and that I should tighten them from time to time.

Definately a good piece of advice.

ES Motor Mounts.

More vibration (bareable). Slightly more noise from the vibration (bareable). Crisper shifting. Wheel hop - unchanged (unacceptable).

Maybe its my tires and LSD pushing both wheels but I have always had a ton of wheel hop before and after my mounts and suspension.

i got the Energy Suspension insert set, but only used the 2 lower rail mount inserts. i didn't have the correct Teg mount for the firewall and i didn't want to put that insert in cause i've been in Civics with all 3 mounts and the dash was ready to fall out.

in my Civic the dash vibrates considerably more and the glovebox drives me crazy. the original glovebox mounts broke so i installed a new one but it's warped so it vibrates even more than the first. i haven't had time to fix it yet.

i'd say the mounts help without a doubt. i still had wheel hop but it wasn't as bad.
i may add the 3rd insert later and fill the other 2 mounts in too when i get the turbo up and running this Spring. but i fear the excessive vibrating.

i window welded all the mounts in my 6th gen. havent used them yet, but i know itll be hella stiffer. anybody know what kind of HP stock motor mount brackets will take? im wondering if I should just reinforce the hell out of the thin sheetmetal right now while everything is out of the car...

We put the stiffer motor mounts in by buddies 92 integra, and the car defently vibrates more, however the motor doesnt move at all. If you can deal with the car vibrating more, than i'd say put them in.

I have ES inserts. I like em a lot. I get some chassis vibrations and some rattles at idle sometimes, but Idon't really mind them. The engine sits rock steady in the engine bay now, whereas before if you were to rev it, it would move A LOT. The inserts make the car feel a lot more solid and responsive. I wouldn't mind getting some new upper mounts, since the inserts only stiffen the rear mount and the two lower front mounts. As for getting them in, the front ones are easy, the rear one is a bitch. I waited until I was doing my headgasket and put the rear insert in while the head and IM were out of the way, and it still wasn't very easy.
