Default pulling a motor

the manual says to pull the engine and tranny as one unit, I am wanting to leave the trans in car when i pull it, to hopefully save time, any hints or ideas? or do i pull them both? I am on a very short leash for time, trying to do a swap tonight and get sleep for work tomorrow lol! I am already off to a bad start.

not pull them drop them out the bottom its much easier and just take them out together its easier. if all the hoses/ exhaust / wiring and front crossmember removed you can get the motor out and a new one in in under 30 minutes

Definetely do not remove the tranny first, just drop it all together like stated above and it won't take that long at all.

my friend pulled his engine out of his hatch and he thought it would be easier to pull the head, then the block, then the tranny. He was dead wrong. It took him hours to pull it all. You should just pull them all at once. It will just be a bitch to get all the bolts off then manuver the block around the tranny and all that bull ****. When all you would need to do to pull them both at the same time is unplug some cables, unbolt the ground, and unbolt the 2 mounts. Might have a one or two more things but they are much much easier than disconecting the tranny.

lol well its definetly easier to pull them out as one peice, it just saves time because it is ALOT easier to seperate them when they are out of the car. its easier to pull them out of the top because that way you dont have to lift the front of the car 3 feet off the ground and there is more clearence from the top. disconect the radiator and all hoses and wiring. IF you dont have a cherry picker and you HAVE to pull it out the bottom you deffinetly dont have to pull out the crossmember or anything. dont make it more difficult than it is...

You can pull the tranny off and leave the motor in place (like for a clutch job) but trying to install the engine with the tranny in the car is a real bitch. When you put the tranny back on the motor you have to line up the splines on the imput shaft with the clutch on the motor and its gonna be frustrating with the tranny in the car.

Edit: haha that made no sense im kinda sleepy but just pull the motor and tranny together

Take both the tranny and motor out. When I did my swap I left the tranny in and was a pain to put back in the hole...
