Default Body work started, pictures up, let me know what you think!

This is the car pretty much as it sits right now. The moldings were all done in fiberglass, then sanded and then iced over with filler. Almost everywhere you see filler, there is either long or short strand fiberglass below. The car initially had NO rust, just a rough body to say the least!
Body shop says it will hold fine, and that the work is great, especially for a first timer! I am passing it on to the shop to be finished as far as the body work itself, and paint.

Car had no rust at all, I want this car to look better than factory, so I dont trust myself since this is the first car I have worked on to this extent. The passenger handle was gone when I got it, not sure why they did that. I dont like it either, but I dont need some punk on the internet telling me its "gay"

if you want it to look better than factory, put the handle back in.

The handle was welded, my only other option is to buy a whole new door. That part was done when I bought it, cant help it.

pop a new door on there. If you dont like it, you will regret it later. Itll suck when you get the whole car painted then you dont liek how the doors are uneven. to each his own, i guess

looks good so far. I'll be in the same boat soon when I start my body project, but I'm going to attempt the 50$ roll-on paintjob everyone has been talking about. we'll see...

so as far as body filler, youre just using bondo right? I haven't done much research on this yet, but I'm just tryin to get an idea of what everyone is using for DIY body work.

My thought on the door handles is, instead of shaving them, use the keyhole less handles from the rear doors of a 4door sedan. Then install power locks. I'm planning on doing this because I like the look, and some douche thief messed up my driverside look with a screwdriver.

no, I am using long or short strand fiberglass depending on where it is, and then skimming it with light finishing filler.

UPDATE

BRAND NEW OEM fenders installed

Replacement doors, got a hookup from a local import shop I am good friends with, 75.00 for the pair, perfect shape.

Ground out the quarters where the moldings go, and went and bought moldings. Car has all door handles and moldings now, I like it a LOT BETTER!!!
Bought new tail lights, brand new corner lenses, brand new bumper lenses, and everything is bolted up, took the car to the painter last night. Sorry I didnt get more pics, camera software on new camera is pissing me off!
It is going to be Type R yellow, otherwise known as sunlight yellow, or pheonix yellow. (same paint code) Doing all jams and inside hatch, engine bay is black. I have for seats either 2 Tenzo R's or one Red sparco drivers seat, leave the passenger stock SI... Dont have 2 good SI seats.
I will defenitely have pics once the car is in primer before paint.
thanks for the interest! AND the insight on the door moldings, after seeing a few without them they do not look good. The EF's just dont have enough body lines after you do that, looks plain IMO.

Here are a couple pics before the new doors and fenders:

Too much fiberglass work needed for my tastes, so I replaced it all!

why didn't you wait until after the car was painted to install your new parts?

Looks half-assed to me.

You wasted more time masking off the head and taillights than it takes to take them out completely.

Take off tails, headlights, bumpers and mirrors.
If that, all together takes you more than 30 minutes you really should consider a different hobby.

not sure you guys understand the condition this car was given to me in... Basically as it sits. It was taped for the most part. I added some around some trim areas for sanding purposes.. As far as waiting to install new parts, fenders and doors should be on the car when painted IMO.. The lights were installed because the body shop is an hour and 20 minutes away, figured I might want lights. OBVIOUSLY they will all come off for paint, I am not a morron. You guys LOVE to critisize. and often fail to get the facts straight before making comments Gotta love the internet!.
