New Shims on OEM Brake pads?
I no longer have the simhs that came with my OEM pads; does anyone remember if you get new ones with the new pads from the dealer or if I need to order new ones seperately? If so, anyone got a part #?
Do you really need them?!? When I installed my R4S pads I just liberally applied anti-seize the backing and to friction points on the caliper mounting. No squeaking in 15K miles of driving. I would think the OEM pads would be less likely to squeal than an aggressive aftermarket pad too.
In other words, I don't think you need to waste your money.

when i got my pads from Mike K they came w/ the shims.
FYI - i just used the new shims w/o anti-seize and im not squeaking...

just removed the old pads, put on the new ones and called it a day
from what i gathered when i was asking ?s around here, its recommended but not necessary (could lead to squealing but im ok thus far)

Just apply any anti-squeel compound and don't worry about it. Plus, the squeeling will let the big *** SUV's and the like know that you are around. =P I'm used to my R4-S's squeaking.......
