2nd gear synchro is ******* DONE!

when i shift from first to second gear, its pretty damn challenging to get it all the way in gear. it feels rather mushy and has tension on it.


anyone have a totaled type-s that they wouldnt mind giving me the 2nd gear synchro or even the 2nd gear set?

 

Lookin at the sig it says '02, is it still under warranty by some chance? If it is there might be some light at the end of your tunnel.

 

I doubt anyone will part out a tranny unless the tranny is otherwise toasted.

Best best would be to order the part from a dealership. New junkyard tranny is still probably going to be expensive as they are in high demand.

Oh, and you probably should have used the FS post at the top.

 

if possible, swaitch your 5th and 6th (I'm guessing a type-s due to the 2nd gear grind) synchros since those seem to be the culpret according to a Acura service bulletin that has been out for 2nd/3rd gear grinds in 02-04 model Type-S.

 

yeah well my cars not under warranty cuz my parents got me the car as a gift a year ago, they ******* bought it from carmax the most backwardass ***** on the planet. i mean its still driveable and i can rip it but you have to like yank that **** into gear

 

heres what you do. theres a technical service bulletin on acura's website that talks about the second gear grinds. im not sure where it is, i will go and look it up. basically go to the dealership and describe whats happening, and they will replace those synchros and ****. now since ur not under warranty, it may not cover it, however, there is a term they use, i forget what its called, but its basically they'll do it for free. (since your 17, and no young kid has that kind of money to throw down that much cash) they might actually do it.
