si A/C mounting brackets needed for swap into EX 6th gen?
I am having a B16A2 swapped into my 2k civic ex and they ran into a problem. They said they have to order the A/C compressor, lines, and freon in order for me to have A/C. It's suppose to cost $292. Is this neccessary?
i went to http://hybrid.honda-perf.org/tech/6gtech.html, this is what they said as far as A/C and what is needed for this swap:
10. Del Sol VTEC/99+ US Civic Si A/C mounting bracket
- to match your AC compressor make. ie. Nippondenzo (only if you want AC)
does that make sense? is there not an easier way to retain the A/C than spending the $292 for the compressor, lines, and freon out of the Si???

This is what you need to do:
Buy a '94-'95 DOHC VTEC Del Sol AC bracket. This is a fact. I know from experience.
By doing this you can keep all of your Civic AC components (e.g. compressor, lines, etc.).
Good luck.

so if i get the Del Sol VTEC AC bracket then i can keep my EX AC, EX lines and all.........= not have to buy the Si compressor and lines and freon???
they say that i have to buy the Si compressor, lines and freon to retain AC for $292...but u say all i have to get is the DEL SOL VTEC AC bracket???

You are correct.
I do not care what they say. I know what I am telling you is right. I have done this at least a couple dozen times.
If you have a '00 Honda Civic EX and you want to put in a B16A2 the '94-'95 DOHC VTEC Del Sol AC bracket with P54 in the part number is what you need if you want to retain your '00 Honda Civic EX AC components and have them fit like OEM.
Trust me, on this one

dude if u are right i am greatly appreciated........i am going to call them and tell them to try using the "94-95 DOHC VTEC DEL SOL AC bracket with P54 part # so that i can retain the 2k civic EX AC components just as if they were still OEM"
he said that the Si compressor is different than the EX compressor (one is denso and one is sandenz) they said that new lines were needed cause they have different connections......i asked them if the AC bracket of the SI would do the job and they said they need: Si compressor(since its different kind than the EX), new lines (for new compressor since the connections for the lines are different), and freon. They said they thought about just using the bracket but they knew that wouldnt work...........i asked him why honda only 2 yrs. ago decided to put a totally different compressor and lines for AC in the Si...and he said he didnt know only that it is a totally different engine than the EX.
He is right the '99-'00 Civic Si AC compressor is different than the '96-'00 Civic EX AC compressor.
But, if you use the '94-'95 DOHC VTEC Del Sol AC bracket your EX AC compressor will bolt right up to the bracket. The AC bracket bolts right up to the block.
I KNOW THIS WORKS. I HAVE DONE THIS AT LEAST A COUPLE DOZEN TIMES.
Sure you can do it their way and spend $250+ or just buy the P54 bracket and be done with it for $100.
You don't have to listen to me. The choice is yours. I have given all the infomation necessary for you to make your choice. Good luck.

my bad, i must have misread the post, i was referring to the person/persons doing your swap.. another suggestion you can do, you can bolt the civic a/c compressor to the mount you have now, but only two bolts will bolt up.. this will hold you over till you find you a DOHC vtec del sol a/c bracket.. i noe b/c that's how i have my rigged right now..
