is it possible to throw in my speakers from my house into my car?

i just found these pretty old (5-10years) jbl audio speakers my dad had for his old system and i was wondering if i could splice some wires or some thing and make it work to go in my car.

what would i need amp, deck? anything else

No.

Well, actually you can, but they'll sound about half as loud... Home stereo equipment is generally 8 ohm, whereas the car audio world is 4...

That can be soved by using amps rated twice the speaker rating. So if an amp puts out 100 wrms at 4 ohms, it will put out 50 wrms at 8 ohms.

If you decide to run them off the head unit, they will get 2.5-5 watts (assuming 8 ohm speakers), which will not be loud enough. The only way to make this work is to get an amp to power them.

They probably wont sound as good as they do in your home because of the huge difference in the enclosure. You also have too look at the durability of them and whether or not they'll stand up to the heat/humidity/cold when installed in your car.

also what do you plan to do with the crossover?
