yes.
yes.
are you all insane, kappas require a lot of power. If you put your regular deck to it, they will sound like ***. I would reccomend getting an amp that will put at least 40-45 watts RMS to them.
I run a 5.25" in my rear deck @50w

I replaced my stock speakers with Kappas and I had to literally turn the volume almost 1/2 way up just to get the same volume I used to get with my stockers at less than a quarter of the way up. Yes they will work without an amp, but these speakers really work better with more power. If you are still using an OEM head unit, they'll sound better if you amplify them or get an aftermarket HU with more power.

yup yup
OEM/Aftermarket deck = can't properly use mid-high end aftermarket speakers. They will distort and damage the voice coils with the low wattage that you are giving them.
For all you noobs, your Sony Atomic Sonic Explode deck that says 55w, its more like 12w if you are luckey.

Nobody is insane.
Please do not tell him things that are not true.
Kappas do not need that much power, they run fine off of deck power.
I used to have them back in the day with my stock deck they will do fine.
If you tried to run a pair of MB Quart Q series off of deck power it will not work very well.
If you did this with a set of Q's they won't be very loud.
Yes an amp is better, but not necesssary YET.

What he said...
You need to set your expectations properly. Will Kappa's sound good from a factory headunit - hmm, I wouldn't go there. An aftermarket head unit - especially with today's higher powered ones - surely it will be an improvement from stock. Now will it sound like a pair of 12's and go super loud - NO!
Again, set your expectation properly. Distortion will not blow speakers, underpowering speakers will not blow them. Being an idiot with the bass and volume ***** will.
I say go for it, but keep in mind that you will se a huge jump in performace if you add a amplifier down the road. As always, I would highly recommend an outboard amplifier for any speakers.

Mabey I was not clear, yes they WILL work.. However they will have NO bass what so ever and sound like total ****, in order to even turn them up loud you have to use those getto bass blocker compaciters. So yes they will make noise, but they will NOT RUN FINE!
This is the truth and is my own personal exprience. Even the reference series (wich i have also had) sound bad off a stock deck. Wile I am at it, all aftermarket speakers that are decent; will sound like crap off the deck. If you really want good sound you need at least a 40x4 amp, in-dash decks just can't put out the juce that these speakers require. You have some decet speakers in your hands, don't dishonor them by running them off your deck.
As far as MB Quart, ounce you go to Quart. You will never go back!!
Screw everything else, they are the best speaker I have ever had. (I have had a few

My stock player was 8wrms and there was bass, not crazy bass, but bass.
It wil play fine, just not great.
As for MB, hardly the best.
And I have tried many.
And I have found MUCH better.
All personal perference, if you like quarts then good.
Only quart I would use now is the QSD, no lower.

Well sure I am sure that you can blow 500+ on some fancy *** components, but who from this board is going to do that???
I think you are missing my point through out this thread, but it dosn't matter. We are straying away from the point of this guys thread.

I have 4 kappas (jade) in my civic. Right now I am powering them with a pioneer 50w x4 head unit. I would say they sound satisfactory. If you have the money definitely go with an amp! My friend has them amped and the difference is night and day.
