Anyone going to the 33rd Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca this month? Ricardo Zonta will be driving this year's Toyota F1 car. It will be interesting to see how fast a current F1 car will be at Laguna Seca. For reference here are pole times:
Grand-Am Daytona Protoype 1:25.xx
American Le Mans 1:15.xx
Toyota Atlantic 1:18.xx
A1GP 1:15.xx
Indy Lights 1:15.xx
Champ Car 1:09.xx
Zonta said that the car will be using a Barcelona setup for Laguna Seca.
In recent times Montreal has hosted both F1 and Champ Car, and Champ Cars are usually 6-9 seconds slower than F1.

if anyone is there, my best friends brother is racing in the Historic Trans-AM series, number 64 Yellow 1969 Chevy Camaro.

he's also racing his red/blue 1975 Dekon Monza in the Historic IMSA GT class.
heres a pic of a later model (1976)

According to the Laguna Seca website Zonta broke Helio Castroneve's lap record (set in 2000 in a Reynard-Honda Champ Car) by a few tenths on his second hotlap of a practice stint. I expect there's at least another second of improvement by Sunday.
I am at Laguna this weekend working in the nMini Mania booth. Zonta set an overall track record this morning and broke it again this afternoon, you could tell it was much quicker. I didn't hear the morning lap time but the average speed was 120.9. This afternoon the faster time was a 1:06 but I couldn't hear the fractions. The average speed was in the 121s mph. When the car starts shrieking on track, everyone shuts up to hear the sounds, steps out to go see a corner and generally doesn't talk much so they can hear the car sounds.
