sohc vtec solenoid on b series?
is it tru can use a sohc vtec solenoid on a b series motor. if so then im gonna get one for my b16 head because i cant find one for a dohc. i need to no if this is tru so i can finish my motor and drop it in
I dont know for sure, but heres the way i see it. A vtec solenoid is a switch thats activated by oil pressure. It kicks over the pin that switches over your cam lobes into vtec.
If a sohc vtec solenoid kicks only 1 cam into vtec, how would it kick both cams on a dohc? Thats my common sense answer, but i could very well be wrong. id be interested in an answer for sure.

I don't know the answer myself per-se, but I can tell u how to find it fast...go to a online parts store and look at the prices of each... If they're rediculously different then I doubt they're the same...if they're the same price then maybe they are the same :-O
And here's an interesting thought, the B-series solenoid moves two cams while the D-series moves one...not sure if there's a bracket so it moves both b/c I've never taken apart the whole vtec deal....but I doubt they're the same
NOTE:
EVERYTHING I SAID HERE IS AN EDUCATED GUESS, I DO NOT/DID NOT CLAIM TO KNOW FOR CERTAIN.

From what I heard, Not sure but here is my answer. I usually don't flame but
shut the F.uck up.
Go to a dealership website and check out Part Numbers if they are the same then it is ok.
Syndacate, I have read too many posts of yours that have no materialistic backup. I think this may be.
Stop posting and you will make others smarter.
A vtec solenoid operates somewhat like a brake master cylinder. When it goes open oil from oil system floods and pushes pins over so they run a different cam lobe locking the other "edit" rockers not cams" end edit- cams into place as well. As long as it is open then if oil and pressure is there then 1, 2, or 20 cams lobes will get pressure needed to run.
Will it fit into mounting location? That matters.
Back to my real post. Unless you have tried it or seen it (even then don't believe it) please stop telling others your misguided efforts of a million posts on honda-tech so you can think to yourself that you are king of honda. Also flaming on "my friend" posts. WTF. did you do it for him? did you drive it everyday? How do you konw? Is he a close friend or somebody you saw at race night and believe him?
Basically and sorry for minor thread jack BUT SCREW YOU SYNDACATE for not knowing anything but post count.
Again to those that matter sorry for being an *** and you can thank budweiser!
