heat wrap smoking?

ok, i put some heat wrap on my header last night, then when i let the car run for a bit and the wrap started to smoke, is this normal? nothing seemed to be buring, just smoke and a wierd smell

When I first put my heat wrap on it started smoking like hell and smelled like crap too!! After awhile it stopped, its normal.
