Default Transmission ID

I have a trans which I beleive is a hydro b16 but there is no form of ID on it, are there any other ways to check other than pulling it apart and looking at the gears?

I know there is a tranny code on there should be on a white sticker that has a bar code on it. I do not know off the top of my head though what the different tranny designations are, sorry.
