Auto and Manual Axles? Getting Mixed results...
I've done some searches, but some contradict each other, and most of the search results are for civics.... anyway...
Swapping a 5 spd GSR motor and trans into a 4 spd Auto LS. Cars are both '97s and both have ABS...
I just need to know, DO I NEED TO USE THE AXLES FROM THE MANUAL? or Can I use just the intermediate shaft from the manual, while re-using the axles from the auto??

Also, some people say they are the same, others say the shafts are different thicknesses? Anyway know the truth?

you can use the axles from an auto. If you have a manual tranny, you cannot use the auto intermediate b/c it will sit out (towards the firewall) a slightly bit futher. Similarly, if you have an auto you cannot use the manual intermediate. Axles are interchange from either manual or auto
^ CORRECT
auto = manual same thing, the shaft is different, you need a speed one, they look almost identical but the back portion where it bolts on is angled different.
i did a auto to manual swap. so its coming from first hand experience and not "i heard it works"

yea, get a 5speed shaft, hmotorsonline.com sells them for 75 bucks.
the only difference is ABS and non-ABS, reuse your axles if their good.
