Well I have an EK which only has the D16Y7 and its stock and I run a 16.8, my friend on the other hand has a 2000 DX coupe with the same engine as me except he has an AEM CAI plus he advanced his timing and I dont believe it but he told me he ran a 16.2 or 16.3 at the local drag strip and he got a 16.4 on G-Tech.

This all said Id say youd run a high 15!!!

Im going to have my B16A2 soon so Im dropping my times to about 14.9!!!

did you run ur d16y7 on a coupe or hatch?...sad to say..i dont' run 15s..i run a best 16.8 actually on my coupe with AEM CAI, DC 4-2-1 Header, Full cat-back 2.25 exhaust...rolling on 17inch wheels..i know the wheels slow me down...but if my car is suppose to run 15s..the 17s won't hurt me that much......Whats goign on here?? My driving isn't that bad..and i know i can hold my own...i've seen non intercooled greddy turboed D16y8's only run low 15s...

you will probadly hit mid 16's! when my si was stock i hit a 15.8, and now with just cai and an axleback, and better suspension i get 15.5 to 15.4, but thats not consistant

my D16Y5 (HX motor) in my 1998 coupe runs a best of 15.7@86 and can run consistent mid-high 15's all night. With just intake, axel back and a short shifter. In fact just recently I ran a 15.8 run all night and took 2nd place (and i think i could have hit a 15.5 that night if i didnt slow down almost every run to not break out ) Thats all on a slipping clutch too.

thats hard to believe unless the weather is a big part of it. when i ran my 15.5, and 15.4's it was about 85 degrees out, and pretty humid, plus i was only taking off at 3000rpm

believeit. i got pictures and a second place trophy and timeslips form all the runs

my best run of the night (which i thought i could hit a 15.5 if i didnt slow down at the end was)

2.315 60'
6.512
10.044@69.710

15.807@80.368
(almost broke out whew)

thats on a shitty clutch BTW. ive been experimenting with street legal slicks lately... going to put a clutch in that grabs pretty hard im hoping for mid-low 15's with a basic bolton SOHC.

Hey SOHC Driver my D16Y7 is in my hatch so it is lighter than a coupe but not by much, plus I was running on 14inch steelies on bald all season tires, I dont think that the weight would make a big difference if you were racing the same car except one was a coupe and one was a hatch.

I remember at the end of last summer I had just gotten my EK and my friend had his 2000DX Coupe with AEM CAI, this was one of my first races, anyway I actually beat him by an extremely small margin, he was kinda pist so he didnt stop at the quarter he was determined to pass me, eventually the AEM's top end power advantage caught up to me and he past me, the race was more like a 1/2 mile by the time he passed me, man that was funny!!!

first time to the track with no header and 17" adr's consistant 17.2's
second time with header, no P/s, advanced timing, stealies with 22psi(in the tires) best run before ihad to dip was 16.322 but it wasnt consistant, my ET's were dropping all night, and this was my last run. two days later changed my plugs and wires an found out that the plugs were completely shot.
I switched to royalpurple oil and im runnin 9mmwires with bosch plugs now. Its MUCH stronger. my kill list includes 3 modified si's, a modified integra ls, and a bunch others. i found the answer to winning is having LIGHT WHEELS. im a firm believer in honda's lack of torque so get lightweight wheels. im rollin the rotas and love em,:D

well..we'll find out what i run on friday..im borrowing my cousins' old OEM 14inch wheels.......im gonna drop the psi down to 25..and see how much this will help my quartermile...keep in mind that last time i ran my 16.8 it was on my 17inch wheels at a full 40psi...my strategy this time around is eliminating my 2nd gear scratch, and rolling on the 14inch wheels at 25 psi..hopefully..i can drop my time down to a 16.2 or something...we'll see...everyone is claiming low 16s on their d16y8 coupe with my mods....i hope im just not a horrible driver or something...
