Default AEM CAI Install

Anyone done an AEM CAI Install on a 5th gen Lude?? ... the rubber ring thing that attaches the intake pipe to the throttle is a perfect fit on the intake pipe, but it's way too big for the throttle body ... how do i make it fit?? ... do i need to buy some other rubber piece?? where do i buy it?? ... pls help

also, does the throttle get really hot?? ... if i put sillicone and another type of rubber to seal it, will it melt?? ...

put a hose clamp on the rubber thing, and just tighten it down as far as it will go.

and no, it will not overheat

But then it will not seal properly ... the rubber thing is waaaaaaay bigger than the opening of the throttle!!! ... I have friends that have done the install, but that extra rubber piece came with theirs ... and are you refering to the sillicone not overheating, or the AEM rubber thing?? ... how hot does the throttle get?? (ie. as hot as the crankcase?? hotter??)

Snug the hose clamp down tightly - it will seal.

You are right, the AEM rubber piece does NOT fit the throttle body. It is way too big. I solved this problem by buying a 3 mm sheet of rubber and cutting the width and length appropriately to fill in the difference in diameters between the rubber AEM piece and the TB. The way I did it (and still holding/sealing perfectly after 1 year) is to cut a strip about 2 cm wide and 30 cm long. Then you line the inside of the AEM rubber tube with it, cutting off the excess. It is important to take your time when cutting the excess, because if you cut it 1 mm too short, you will have a 1mm gap. It's almost better to have a slight interference fit (ruber will always find a way to compress, but only slightly!). Then you have to carefully work the AEM rubber piece with the extra ruber lining onto the TB. Take your time and you will see that the fit is perfect.
I will be in Nepean for May 24 weekend. We should meet and compare notes.

Oh yeah, you can buy that rubber stuff at Home Depot or Home hardware, etc..
