Hey all, I'm just wondering if there is a difference in body structure besides the rear wing to a ctr and normal 96 civic hatch back like are the front lights different or maybe a diff bumper?

- CTR has dark gunmetal headlights without reflectors
- CTR has a two-piece wing
- CTR has power folding mirrors
- CTR has front and rear lips
- CTR has body color sideskirts
- CTR has thin side moldings
- CTR had a lattice grill
- CTR has sidemarkers
- CTR has red emblems
- CTR has CTR stickers
- CTR has 5-lug with CW rims
- CTR had optional yellow foglights
- CTR had optional window visors

I hope that's all.

 

Do you know anybody who sells them? I want to do a conversion as much as I can but cant seem to find **** no matter where i look and i already whent through google thanks though. Thankful for any help.

I think the CTR had better weld spots... something like that

 

Im really not worried about how well the welds are on my friggin CX vs the CTR I just want to know what conversion parts to get to look like it.

 

To find out its a CTR or not is by its 5 lug by first sight. the marks didnt show or not, then after the 5 lug look at the cluster. stock CTR have a 10k rpm cluster.

i would care its body structure more than the "look", Im still looking for a CTR subframe

The 99-00 SI lip and grill are exactly the same as the CTR ones.

 

Why would I really care about a CX's body structure if it needs more reinforcement? just do it yourself Its not that hard to put a few extra welds in a chassis to make it more sturdy. And if your smart enough you might be able to figure out where they go on a CTR body. Put them on yourself And if you dont know how to weld? have someone else do it for you Cars aren't rocket science!!

 

CTR is much different. the chassis is much stiffer and has extra bracing where the Ek hatches dont. You wont see the difference in the body until both interiors the car are stripped so u can compare them

 

Subframe in the back is a thicker metal than the other Civics. This was because of the rear swaybar.

U.S. hatches are not ek's according to the vin numbers. They're EJ6's if i remeber right from my 97 hatch. EK hatches are EK9's which is the CTR in japan and europe. Differences are headlights, engine, front and rear lip, type r wing, mirrors, grille, emblems and decals, mouldings, 5 lug, white wheels, red interior w/ recaros, gauge cluster, center console, dash board color, steering wheel, shift boot and ****, floor mats.

 

headlights arent a different shape right they are just the smoked refletor walls
and amber corners?

 

The taillights are different too. They look the same, but if you look really close they don't have reflectors in them.

Unless I'm mistaken, I'm pretty sure all JDM taillights (not just CTR) have no reflectors.

 

Don't forget that the ctr has a different and I should say "stronger" rear subframe. Thought I should say that one since it's not something that you can really see and it's not that obvious.

So does that mean that basically all JDM civics tail lights for this year per say basically looked/were the same?

I think all civics came with a rear sway bar.. Just not a strut bar if you didn't have a sway bar I'm predicting the rear of your car would have almost no traction going around a turn any higher than 35 maybe?

Yup.

 

Even better for me when i go for the rear conversion

 

i have a 98 hatch and ive got my hands on some jdm tails and there are reflectors but just near the middle of the light... usdm has ones on the side and
ones in middle . looks the same tho.
-ctr vs. dx looks wise-
1-black housing headlights with no orange reflector
2-front and rear lip which only comes specifically on CTRs
3-rear spoiler specific to CTR of course (real one has no break light on the wing)
4-...5 lug and championship white rims
5- jdm mirrors power folding ( us has ugly dumbo ears that dont fold and look like crap)
6- front grill which is CTR specific also
7- misc stuff interior (red recaro and door panels), decals, emblems, exhaust...etc.

hope this helps becuase everyone else was just giving info not regarding looks. but everyone knows this could be found if you searched enough or looked at a pic of a CTR and be like hmm my car dont have that! good luck .. really hard to pull off a real CTR look i havent seen a good one yet. they always FAWK something up.
