skunk 2 intake not giving me more power, did I do something wrong
I just re built a d16a6 for my 89 crx si 3500 miles ago, and I put a skunk 2 intake on it about 100 miles ago. i followed the directions and everything, except i didn't just secure the idle air solenoid valve on the firewall like they recommend, i just unplugged and removed it, would this be what is causing my car to feel like it lost power instead of gained it with the manifold?? or does the manifold just not add much power if you only add the manifold, not a bigger cam and throttle body with it? (the car has cold air intake and headers and full performance exhaust).
i left the solenoid unplugged because i know that when it's not bolted up to the intake it makes the car surge at idle when the car is warm, but the skunk 2 has no place to bolt it to.
i hope i didn't just spend 300 bucks on an imaginary 20 horsepower,
i forgot to add that the chambers have been bored over 20 thousandths.

You installed the s2 intake manifold on a near stock car?
Yea it can hurt you. if you gain anything it'll be towards top end. You'd be better off to sell it back and get a y8 intake mani.

yeah, the motor's been bored and i have plans for an ecu upgrade and new cam soon, i might end up getting a fuel pressure regulator to try to get more fuel into the engine to cope with the added air. Do you think i'm getting less power because the car now has too much air into it?
your not getting more air, its the way the air is comming into the motor that makes the power. adding fuel will make it run rich. you need to get a tuneable engine managent system if you wanna make some power.

well, what do you guys think would be the best way to have the skunk 2 actually add power, what other modification do i need to go along with it, cam, t-body, fuel press. regulator??
I feel like an idiot now that i realize why it doesn't add more power, haha, wish i had thought of that sooner, oh well, thanks for all the help

if i was really fed up with it i would say ok, but i think i'm going to do the other modifications to make it add power, instead of just reverting back to stock, sorry, but thanks for the offer!
You should read some books on how intake manifolds are designed.
You think Honda has stupid people working in their engine development program?
Don't be a sucker and buy **** that bolts on thinking you're gonna get 20 free horsepower.
Come on, man.
...and yeah, if you're gonna adjust your fuel and ignition maps (which I DON'T recommend, seeing as how you don't seem to know anything about motors), use a chipped Honda ECU with TurboEdit.

well, i've just never done anything aftermarket that's this extensive, i mean, when it comes to taking things apart, fixing them, and putting them back together, i can do that, i'm just a little new to this game, you know, but thanks for the help
