I kept one, the primary one on the right side. My oil cooler is on that side too.

If you are moving more than 15 mph, the fan isn't needed. The fan is nice for cool down in the paddock, or if you have to come in hot and park for a black flag.

There are pros and cons. Fans are a nice weight reduction opportunity...3-4 lbs right off the nose. I'd say 1/2 remove them and 1/2 keep at least one.

I switched to a KOYO radiator so the stock fan wil no longer fit... I can use a thin line style i guess. I want to run a few 12 hour races this year or next so i guess i really need to put one back in.

I have a single slim, light aftermarket fan on my racecar and very glad I installed it. I have it on a sperate curcuit with toggle switch on the dash, no need for a thermo switch AFAIAC. I agree with Track Rat that the main use for it is for being in the paddock and grid prior to and definitely after a session.

Once the car is moving at track speed, it won't do anything so long as you don't have some weird high pressure situation in the engine bay. I have never had a Honda run really hot on track. I have used an electric fan on track on a hot day with a rotary engine and found a little bit of benefit but rotaries on track require heat management regularly.

Better to have an not need then need and not have. Worth the 2 lbs for me.

Same deal with the Fluidyne I have. No issues at all when racing. But its kind of a pain in the *** to always have to keep your eye on the temp in the pits and paddock area. The typical "whoops" manuver is leaving engine running when dealing with "quick" tire/brake/set-up stuff in the hot pits and your attention drifts away from the gauge. An idot light would solve that. But so would a fan.

Thawley -- now with an even bigger list of things to do during the off season

I don't have any fans on my radiator at all. I took them all off. I do however have a big red light that will come on if my coolant temps get over 235f. I have never had any problems with overheating without the fans in. I just don't let it sit and idle for longer than 10min at a time.

no fan here either....why? because the dude from Honda said to take it off, but I WOULD want it on if the current starter stays with the standing starts that take way too long..... That's if I ever make it to the track........

It's simply not necessary on a N/A, road race Honda.

You guys are lucky, one session in my car and my hood is melting, coolant sprayed everywhere, things are catching on fire... must be nice

I still have one fan. Why? Peace of mind. I know I most likely don't *need* it, but it's awfully nice knowing it's there when a red flag comes out

Well, I'm the dummy, then. Again. I kept two huge slim line fans on the K motor's full size Koyo.

I do drive the car to the track, though. Maybe that makes me look a little less like a dummy.

Or not.
