vtec activates in the early 4100-4400 rpm's , then the second tone after 6krpm, i had the sound after 6k rpm for like a month then it goes away.. then comes back, i think it has something to do with oil maybe

how long have you had your car? a guy i work with said he got his computer chipped so that the vtec will come on at around a little past 4000 rpm. maybe the previous owner did something like that.

VTEC at 4400 and secondary butterflies at around 6000, its not vtec just more airflow, it's oil pressure at 4400 and little throttles open at 6000 or so (secondary butterflies), the secondary butterflies should open all the time, then again make shure you have good amounts of oil, the ecu looks for the MPH your in, oil pressure, and a specific RPM (4400 in this case), then it's nothing but, VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETAAAAAAAAAAAAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
