Why is my sound system so messed up in my hatch? Not the same since i took whole car apart
Well, i took my whole car apart, meaning like stripped out most of the harnesses except the ones that ran into the doors so i dont really think that could have been the cause.....
But regardless ever since i put my car back together the system has never been the same. I tried a couple of sets of speakers and no matter what they sound like **** if i try to go as loud as i used to with my stock blown ones!
Also im uising a prelude head unit which worked just fine before, but now if i try to go to loud the sound just shuts off and music wont play again unless i turn the car off completely and turn it back on. What the hell is that all about?
This is in a 93 EG hatch BTW.

Trace the wires from the speaker to the head unit.. Sounds like you've got a short somewhere.
Also makes sure the speakers aren't grounding out in the door (ensure tinsel leads from vc to terminal aren't touching the edge of the speaker cutout).

Yes, shorted speaker or speaker leads is the first thing I would look for, HU output shutting off when turned up is a symptom of a short on a speaker lead, going to the speakers or the speaker terminals.
Try this, fade all the way to the front and/or rear speakers, and try the system again, if it still cuts out fade to the other set and try again, if it only cuts out when the front or rear speakers are on, then fade to that set and balance to the left or right, if only one of the speakers cut the system out, it is the speaker, or it's speaker leads that are shorting out.

Another is when you hook up the acc line to the power wire on the headunit. My friend did that and whenever he turned it up it just shut off.

Ok i'll check that out. Exactly how far does the wiring go though to the head unit? Do i gotta take out my dash and **** to go through it?

You don't need to take out your dash, but you need to look wherever you removed harnesses in your "stripping" process... Maybe you pulled a wire somewhere or pinched one when you put things back together...

Ok i'll check that out. Exactly how far does the wiring go though to the head unit? Do i gotta take out my dash and **** to go through it? </TD></TR></TABLE> that depends on where the short is, the speaker leads, [8 of them] run from the HU into under dash harness to the door harness plugs, [car side] then from door harness plugs, [door side] to the speakers, the rear speaker leads run to the rear harness plug and down rear harness to the rear speakers, if your lucky the short will be at or around the door speakers, [it is not uncommon for aftermarket speaker terminals or tinsel wires to come in contact the the doors inner sheet metal skin, and short out].
If however you are unlucky, and you "pinched" a speaker lead when you where putting things back together, [after you took "whole car apart] it may require you take all the same stuff apart to find the short.
Why not pull the HU and with a multimeter check for continuity to ground on all 8 speaker leads at the radio plug, if you find a "short" start by pulling that speaker.
Here is a pin out and color codes for the stock speaker leads... http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/HA-Wiring.pdf

Can anyone confirm that this most likely is the problem?
