Default rpm not going along with the speed?

when accelerating in 4th 5th or 6th, the rpms go up alot faster than it should. seems like im almost reving the car in neutral? the car just stays at its normal speed but SLOWWWWWWWWLY goes faster. when the rpms go up it stops at around 5 or 6k then wait till the motor catches up n then goes up. so basically, it goes up to 5-6k then pauses. is this common? is it some sorta safety thing?

def. sounds like clutch is going. Grats, you get to work on the tranny! upgrade your flywheel and maybe pop in a LSD if you have the money. May as well get it all done for one charge than multiple times. Not cheap getting tranny worked on.

It's deffinitly the clutch, my fried had the same thing happen, it was funny as hell, but opens the door to work on you tranny like ScuDC5 said. You didn't state the kind of car but if it is an RSX S made before '05 it would be an ideal time to get the SYNCHROS worked on to. The 6 speed trannies are junk. The synchros die prematurly, I have an '03 type s with 50 tousand miles on the dot and it already feels really bad and I don't even push it that had. Golden time to rip it apart and make it a beast.

Its been beat to death, but you need a new clutch.

It happened on my Probe, and Eclipse, so its normal on cars with manuals. So get used to it.

theres no grinds in any of the gears... yet.... knock on wood...but does that still mean i should get some work done on the syncros? wat kinda work can you do to them other than replacing them? anyone have suggestions for some decent clutch flywheel combos? im not taking this car to like 400-500 hp so i wont need a crazy *** race clutch or anything

Its best, that while youre in there, take it all apart and rebuild it while everything is out of the car. There is nothing more fustrating than putting something in, and then having to take it right back out a few months later. Just because its not doing anything now, doesnt mean your car is immune to a COMMON problem on these cars.

Just something simple then, like a fidanza or ACT street lite lightweight flywheel and a centerforce, ACT Exedy, OMG, or other stage 1 clutch for streetability. If you go any higher in staged clutches, you run into problems with chattering, drivability, and wear issues.

So a moderate street application will suit you just fine.

same thing happend to me it was my clutch
so i put in a act prolite flywheel and a competion stage 2 clutch kit

Its nice, pedal pressure is alot softer than the act xtss I had on my civic. The pedal feels almost stock. I kinda of liked the hard pedal on my civic.

rebuilding the syncros as in replacing them with whole new ones? how much does it run anyways, my clutch it baddddd and i barely have money to do a clutch flywheel install. so i dunno if i can fit in a syncro rebuild.
