17 x 8? I have 18 x 7.5 and the rear wheels are very close to the well. I would not suggest it, but I am not definite that yours will not fit. My offset is +42 if that helps at all.
My set up is:
18 x 7.5" +42 offset Racinghart CR single Piece
215/40/18 Nitto Neogen Tires
Tein Super Street Coilovers W/Pillowball Mounts (dropped pretty low)

it should fit as long as your drop is no lower than 1.5" 235/40/17 on a +48 17x8 wheel is a known fitment for the Prelude. I've seen it done with Toyo t1s and a few others but never the Falken (which is slightly wider). You'll need to trim the tabs in the rear and hopefully you have a stiff rear suspension

Right now the car is at stock ride height.</TD></TR></TABLE>
the "Tabs" are the extra plastic material where the edge of the plastic bumper bolts onto the metal fender. If you take off the rear wheel and look under there, you can trim material from the inside edge with a Dremel tool to give you a little more tire clearance. The only material you have to keep is the bolt (obviously) and anything visible from the outside.
at stock height, you shouldn't have any rubbing issues
