Umm, what about the K-Series. It seems to do wonders with simple bolt-ons.

How is LS/vtec gonna out perform a K series mod for mod? The K you're already looking at 220 to the crank, stock. With more torque and stock honda reliability, forget about it.

No, Poorman's Type-R is a B16 head on a GSR block.

mod for mod??? Obviously this isnt true since the K20 gets ITBs and nothing else does. That and "mod for mod" a poor mans type R is the same ****** thing as a type R.....yet it has 7 votes and the type R has none.....or if you say the poor mans type R doesnt get the "mods" that the Type R comes stock with, then the Type R is going to whoop its *** (bigger cams, higher compression, better intake manifold, etc). Oh well, atleast Im laughing at how stupid this thread is.

That depends on what pistons you use, generally people building a poor man's Type-R don't just throw a B16 head on a B18 block, the idea is that if you're going to replace the cams, pistons, and P&P (things that make the Type-R better), then you might as well use the cheaper counter parts.

If you're trying to say this is the gayest thread ever, then yes I agree.

stock for stock and mod for mod the best b-series motor is the type-r....and still....this thread makes no sense because everyone already knows that. if yoeu want to gt more in depth then of course ls/vtec (seeing as we are basing this solely on power) will be the best motor...this is saying we go mod for mod. however, basing the judgement not just on power, but reliability and balance, then the type-r still wins.

either way this thread is kinda dumb because you wanted to know the best b-series motor yet in the poll you have a k20 w/ITB's...WTF?

gsr block and a b16 head is better than a itr engine...b18c5's head doesn't flow as well as the b16 head. period.

they use the same head...minus the type r head has a slight pnp...but its the same pr3 head...

Only the engines destined for production vehicles recieved the hand P+P, replacement motors/heads did not. However the Type-R still benefits from the better cams/valvetrain as well as higher compression pistons then the GSR block, 9311dan is definitly incorrect.
