Default Sunroof stuck and doesn't work

Basically what happend was one day leaving skool to a friends house a friend of mine decided to jump out and pretty much sit on the sunroof while i was driving and i didnt mind, we were just ****** around, but when i got to my friends house the sunroof started to move down too early and scraped the top. i had lift the sunroof up and press the button so that it would get in, and to open it i have to push it up from the inside. any ideas on what it might be?

There are lots of pieces in there, you've lost the up down control though.
Open it up and see if you can tell what's broken.

well why in the world would you ever let someone sit on your sunroof? i mean thats just poor judgement all together. i dont even let ppl lean on the car much less sit on something not meant to actually hold large amounts of weight.

its just like that question awhile back. "should i buy these stolen s2k seats and will they look good?"

basically the thread turned into a right/wrong issue and had nothing to do with the original question. he could have just as easily asked if S2k seats look good and will they fit etc. but he chose to say they were stolen which opens up a whole other can of worms. when you give information like "i let my friend sit on it" it basically tells us the situation we are dealing with.

sorry but thats how i treat things.

Ok first,I had the same problem with my sunroof, you need to replace the rails. It is not a fun task nor easy. I would rate it a 6 out of 10 to replace both rails. just take the panel down from inside *held up by 8 screws*, then take the roof off *4 nuts*, then loosen the rails *3 screws each side*, then fight the sob to get out of its place!!!! get the rails from a junk yard they are 2 expensive to buy. the plastic pieces that lift the roof break off and that is what causes it to lower before it reaches its hole. In the mean time you should be able to use it if you lift with your hand while opening and closing, but becareful...I did this 4 almost 1.5 yrs......

2ndly why do most the people on here have to be dicks! You can help people fix probs without sounding and being a complete *** about it. You people must look at the computer all day and have this computer attitude. Its time to grow up for most of the people on h-t......Very useful posts here and there without garbage in them but they are starting to fade out. Its turning into more of a lets make this person look like a dumbass then lets help this person out.

^it comes with the territory. and i already explained why.

so lets say you are a drug dealer. you need directions to a place. you see a cop, you don't go and ask him "hey where is the pool hall so i can go sell some drugs?" you ask the officer, "Officer, where would the nearest pool hall be?"

ppl don't mind helping in here, its just the way you ask it.

I gotta agree with you there Patern101, when a stupid person asks a question that will make him smarter, thats fine you will probably get a good idea on the answer.. but when a stupid person asks a stupid question well that opens the flood gates for a whole ration of shiza..

Same thing happend to me (except nobody sit on it). After I took it apart number 14 and 18 were broken, bought those plastic guides from a dealer for about 10 $. It's kind of tricky to replace it, the rails must come off.

Then while you are at it go ahead and get a chevy cav or a ford tempo and quit driving around in a prelude which deserves to be well taken care of.
