May sound stupid but i have wondered this
what makes vtec kick in louder then other peoples vtec
example when i didi my jdm gsr swap into my civic the vtec was deciently loud and my friend did the same swap but into his hatch and it is the exact same motor and his vtec was like 10 times louder
ive just wondered this for awhile
like a b16 i think they have the loudest one but idk
just a question

 

modifications can create a ''louder'' sounding vtec..... such as larger camshafts,bigger intake pipe,aftermarket intake manifold,header...ect....

what mods did you and your friend have? might help to better understand what make it seem like his was louder.

 

Exhaust plays a big role in the sound as well. I had some cheap ebay can and a high-flow cat on my Prelude and I could barely hear the difference in vtec (sounded like *** all the time). Upgraded to a WS2 and now there is no mistaking when I hit vtec.

 

his is still all stock and now mine has a dc sports fuel rail
skunk 2 intake main
shortram intake
and vtec controler and apexi gt spec catback exhaust
and his is still louder

 

well you have good modifications. have u noticed considerable gains from stock to thew mods you have now or not really?

 

yeah i have noticed some things
it really likes to get up and go good now and it seems to have good throttle response also
