Default Front End Clicking! please help

when i come to a stop my car makes a rediculously loud clicking noise in the front end until i stop. and then when i start accelerating it does the same thing.
i figured it was my crappy suspension so i bought KYB AGX adjustables and skunk 2 coil overs and the problem was still there. so then i bough the sway bar linkage and that was not the problem, so then i figured it might be the axles. so i got 2 new axles... and the clicking wont stop... does anyone know what this could be? has anyone else had this problem? thanks for any input!

might be wheel bearings.

i have this problem, but not on my prelude. I have this problem on my blazer. I had the axles checked out but they are fine. Wheel bering sounds like a good answer.

Why don't you guys jack up the front end and shake the tire
to see if there is any play in the wheel brg. or suspension?

i have done that like 5 times, i have even taken everything i can think of apart and put it back together, i also checked all motor mounts and my exhaust. it has something to do with my controlarms/suspension/something up front there. it shifts my wheel forwards and backwards when i stop/accelerate...

Maybe there's a stick caught in something?

is it a loud popping noise or continuous clicking? if poppingit could be lower controlarm bushings. had a similar problem with my car.

so what happened when you did that, no play at all?

I got same problem on my 92, can't figure out what. My only make noise when it's hot and press the brake until stop. I changed brand new brake rotor and pad, shock and spring, still there. If anybody find a solution to this let us know.
good luck

if the brake pedal vibrates, it's probably a warped rotor

Boudreau, is the clicking speed-sensitive? In other words, does the clicking slow down when you brake, and speed up when you accelerate?

You can rule out the wheel bearings by braking or accelerating the car in a left/right turn. Make sure that there is sufficient lateral force being applied to the car when turning, otherwise this test won't work. If it doesn't click when the wheels are turned, it's not the wheel bearings.

When you said you put in two new axles, I'm hoping they were new-new or re-manufactured assemblies?

If it truly isn't the cv joints of the axles, clicking will also be caused by intermediate shaft bearings. Excessive backlash in the differential or transaxle will also cause clicking when the load changes on the drivetrain like when accelerating/braking. Shaft bearings in the transaxle can also cause clicking.

VTECnKEN, not at all, its just RANDOM as expletive. sometimes it doesnt make the noise at ALL. but the clicking does not speed up / slow down at all. its just like 1-3 click when stopping, and 1-3 clicks while accelearating.... RANDOM times, its not like when i get to this X speeds, or when i apply X ammount of pressure... its just RANDOM. and its a CLICK a deeeep like METAL on METAL not like pinging or little pipes banging, its like solid metal on solid metal clicking... its SO bad now when i accelerate REALLLLY hard in 3rd and 4th gear i can slightly feel the front end of my car shaking... omg ever since i rebuilt the motor its had nothing but problems. but soon they better all be fixed lol. thanks for all the imput, im gonna bring it to a local shop and see if i can get a free estimate and then they will tell me whats wrong then i will bring it home and fix it lol. i will let everyone know what the deal is when/if i find out.. haah thanks.

Try re-tightening (to the correct torque spec of 40ft-lbs) the radius rod nuts on both sides.

#26 in this diagram.

I had a similar problem before and this was it. I actually have the problem right now (just did a clutch job) and have a feeling its the same thing.

well i loosened up that and it really didnt make that big of a difference. but i found what the problem was.. i brought my car into a local shop to have them push in a new bushing into my drivers side lower control arm. this has been clicking ever sense then. well i started tightning every little think i could find near my lower control arm and what do you know, the lower control arm bracket had 1 bolt that was finger tight, and another one that was not fully snug. i thingtened them up and about 99% of the clicking has stoped. i will check the other side when i get a chance. but now i still have the other problem... 3rd gear when i put the pedal to the floor i can feel the front of my car shaking, 4th gear and 5th gear are the same way... but it only shakes when im accelerating. coasting it feels perfect, and breaking it feels perfect. and 1st and 2nd gears feel perfect as well.... i cant figure this one out haha if anyone has any ideas for this that would be awesome lol thanks in advance
