Default sterring wheel shakes at high speed

hey i have this problem, my steering wheel shakes at high speed at about 70km/hr+ and shake more when i hit the brakes. What do u guys think is the problem with it. Is it the braking system or my power steering belt gone bad?? Plz help me.

But i still drive at high speed with this problem , but sometimes scares the **** out of me .

my first guess would either be brakes or alignment, or atleast those are the two fairly easiest things to check and do...

well i did a search on it and they point out that my rotors may be warped. Can anything else cause this shaking.

That's the very first thing I would do. After that, check brakes, if the problem persists, there are more complicated things, but those two are usually the cause.

check tire pressure, wear, and get them balanced. Had this happen on my acura legend. It only shakes over 60mph.

I have a similar problem. The rear of the car shakes whenever I'm between 30-40mph. The guy who I bought my car from replaced one rear tire and I guess he didn't align or balance.

Please stop with the caps and what not, your gonna get docked points quick doin that.

As far as his problem, i'd assume its brakes more than the alignment b/c he says it gets worse when he hits the brakes. I'd go check out your front rotors and pads asap.

Im going with alignment.

it happens when he isnt on the brakes.....that or your hub assembly is shimmed and your going to have to replace that and your wheel bearings. I just got done dealing with that......but that is a VERY Rare occurance, so check that off the list of what it shouldnt be

Warped rotors or trashed wheel bearings, I can almost guarantee it

cheapest to not:

tire pressure
lug nuts loose
wheel balance
wheel alignment
warped rotors
stabilizer
wheel bearing
axle/cv joint?

Most of what everyone else said, but these are what you should probably check.

I've been through three sets of OEM front rotors in the two years I've had my lude, they just keep warping, I get them replaced on warranty each time. Next time though I'm getting some different parts as it's getting boring.

I have another slight wobble due to a buckled wheel (buying used wheels on eBay = ). My poor lude needs some love.

i'd be willing to bet on tires out of balance. i'd try that first because that's the cheapest and if you have any wear at all on them it wont hurt to have them rebalanced anyway
