Trucks in solo2?
I've got a friend that may want to attend an event or 2 this year in his Ford Ranger. Does anyone know how trucks are classed? There's a Dodge R/T that runs locally and an s10 but I haven't been able to find much information about trucks and solo2 by searching the net.
If it were me I would class it in Street Mod 2 since that is a catch-all for everything that doesn't fit anywhere else.
Some regions don't allow trucks due to their high CG. I personally would not allow a stock pickup truck (not talking about a lowered pickup, that isn't stock) unless it was something with a sport/lowered suspension on it like an S10 Extreme, Lightning or R/T.

there was an s10 running in the HS class this past weekend

Our local region classifies these in HS.

The stock and sp rules have catch-all listings for trucks. But, as Cobra pointed out, due to the high CG and potential to go two wheeling, the safety steward may disallow some trucks. And of course there is SM2 for trucks that exceed sp rules.

There is an old school Toyota truck that has been trophying at Nationals in the old DSP and new FSP classificaiton for years now. It is in incredible shape for its age as well.
We judge trucks as they come. If it's too high and not wide enough we don't allow them to run. Something like a S10, Lightning - like someone mentioned we don't mind. MOst of the trucks get placed in HS.
Saw a guy last year in Huntsville that was racing an Izuzu Amigo with suspension work......in the rain........with many spin outs.
It was pretty cool to tell the truth.

Here's a picture I took at last years' Bremerton National Tour. Not sure who it is, but it has Oregon plates. BTW, a Ford Lightning in the proper hands is fast.

I have a friend that has a Dodge Ram (Indy edition) which is lowered and worked over (runs 14.2's) that runs auto-x's. His truck goes so fast on some of the straight-a-ways he blows the cones over without hitting them! Gotta love it though.
In divisionals he runs CP and gets his *** kicked, locally he runs ST (Sport Truck).
Still, it's all about fun right!

Don't remember what classes the trucks usually but I know a few have been in the Street prepared class... You know what's funny though, when I first ran the Tacoma (totally stock) I beat (paxed) a Chevy S-10 that was in a SP class - and the S-10 wasn't stock by a longshot... What was also funny on the first run was the C3 corvette that came in behind me - announcer read first run something like this: "and a time of xx.xxx for the corvette....you got beat by a truck buddy!"
I think the tailgate should either be removed or left up for autocrossing , tailgate doesn't look good in that picture - unless the tailgate cables were replaced with solid rods? Any drag-downforce you can get for the drive wheels is good!
-Vracer111 who thinks RWD trucks have a very high autocross enjoyment factor - they are even more fun than a FWD integra*!
*provided the integra is not a race only prepared vehicle. Will have to see how a Prepared class Integra feels....
