93 Accord Automatic Tranny Questions?
I have a 93 Accord and I'm having tranny problems.I have owned the car for just over a year.It had a bad tranny when I bought and the tranny that I put in it just went out.I change the fluid in it ever other oil change is there something else I need to do to keep the next tranny from going out.And my next question is when I change the tranny do I need to change the computer for the computer?
Why are you changing the fluid every other oil change. Transmission fluid requires replacing every two years or 24,000 miles.
Are you sure the transmission itself is bad? '90 to '93 Accords are famous for having TCM problems.
What type of problems are you having with your tranny?
I might be able to help.

Catch 22 situation, you are getting salvage yard replacement that is over 10 years old and already 1/2 worn out. The only thing that might help is to get a brand new Torque Converter [about $120] for the next replacement trans. Common problem back then was the TC clutches coming apart, a telltale sign is to remove an external solenoid and see if the screen is full of paper mulch looking stuff. My wife had a 92 that had this problem, I pulled the case off and cleaned it all out, put on a new TC and that trans made it to 1/4 million miles.
