Default chipped ecu?

just planning things out for any swap i might end up getting and i know i need a chipped ecu.

what's better to get, p28 or p72? who do you reconmend to send it out to get it chipped?

not sure on what motor i want yet, its either going to be a obd1 gsr or prelude swap (h22a).my car is a obd2 civic. i know im going to need the conversion harness and rewire it and all.

also if i just get it chipped with a basemap, would i need to do anything else, just plug it in and thats it? do still need to get tuned?

idk about ECM's, but i've always heard that p28's are easier to program or mess around with. just wait for somebody more knowledgeable to tell you tho.

PS: here's one ECM site i've been checkin' out recently. i saw one of their banners posted up above a few days ago.

P28... I would send it out. both engines are good, especially the h22.

H22 all the way, dont matter which you chip. keep the p28 a virgin.

What do you have, a D16 or D15?

This question could only come from one of the two...

I'm sure the car is also stock

Keep the P28 in there until you swap, ur not gonna sawp out the ECU or customize the base map and gain 20hp....or even 5....

you need more than an exhaust and an intake to gain anything by custom tuning an ECU...wait till you do ur swap (if you do a swap) then get a different ECU according to what you swapped with or then you can have ur other one chipped and custom tuned

and real time tuning on a dyno beats pre-made base maps any day

Has it ever dawned on you to use the stock D16Y7 ECU? I'm pretty sure that's the P2E or P2N or somethin of the sort (somebody else that knows ECUs well can tell ya)

It's cheaper than getting your P28 chipped and rigged up to act like it..

You do...but what's the difference between picking up the right ECU for cheaper or spending more on the wrong ECU - you said you don't have any...not to mention even if u do have a P28 to send it out and get it chipped will take longer than it will to find the right one and put it in...+still cost more

yeah, i used to say ECU, but my Acura and Honda svc. manuals like to use ECM (electronic control module). they both refer to tha same thing tho.

like, we all refer to tha same thing when we say what "motor"? when it should be: what "engine"? know what i mean?
