Default Problem bleeding brakes

I was trying to bleed the brakes on my brother's 94 Legend yesterday and the fluid kept coming out between the threads of the bleeder screw instead of through the nipple that the tube is connected to.. any idea what I can do? Air is getting back into the system and after a short drive the pedal goes to the floor.

Do I need to take out the screw and teflon tape it or something? I've never had that happen on my ITR so I'm not sure what the problem is..

You can replace the nipple (it's got a proper name but nipple sounds good) if that doesn't work you may have to get another caliper if the threads in the caliper are messed up. I would not trust any kind of tape or anything like that. This is brakes we are talking about. It's nice to go forward, but when you need the brakes it's nice to know they are there and done right. Don't take the risk.

tighten the bleeder some, sounds like you loosened it too much?

the bleeder might be clogged.

Hopefully I can just replace the nipples This happened on 3 of the 4 calipers so I don't think he would be too thrilled about replacing all the calipers on the car..

Other than the one that bled properly, one of the three started out okay with fluid coming out of the tube.. but after 4-5 pumps it also started to come out of the threads instead of the tube..

RTW DC2R:

They were pretty tight, I just opened it slightly.. just called Acura and they're just a few bucks each so I'll repalce them and give it another shot.

i had that problem before, remove the bleeder screw and clean the cone shaped end, it's probably rusty. also clean the hole it screws into

I've always wondered, if you were to replace the bleeder screw, the brake fluid doesn't come streaming out once it's removed? Or would it only do that if the brake has been pumped/pressed?

This is where locking vice grips come into play. Use them to clamp the brake line leading to the caliper. Also helps to do this when changing pads and you have to press the caliper back in. It keeps the fluid from going back into the system and just bleed the little bit there onto the floor.

So I replaced the 3 bleeder screws and everything seems fine now. I think there was a lot of air in the system because when I pulled out the screw hardly anything came out.

There was so much buildup in the bleeder screw that you couldn't even tell there was a hole in the bottom of the screw.
