Default Cooling problems...

I have a 2000 si with pretty much stock b16. Without my a/c running, my car starts to over heat ot stop light if i stay there long enough. I have checked everything that would be an easy fix, but I still over heat. Anyone have any ideas, im clueless.

My second question is this, my car keeps throwing the cel and ecu gives me code p0172 which is rich conditions, but according to my air/fuel, im running on the lean side of the spectrum....could this be a problem? any ideas, or answers for that matter would be a big help, thx.

If it's overheating while stopped, it sounds like the cooling fan isn't running, have you checked that?

Yeah, the cooling fan comes on, and runs a lot more than it should, and the air/fuel is a 4 wire that I hooked up to sensor.

try to check the radiator hoses and water pump.. try to look for any leaks.. if you don't find any, the problem might be internal.. that just happend to me last week.. turns out, i need to get my head gasket replaced..

im doing a re-build in 3 weeks, would be sooner if i had all the money, but you know how that goes. I dont know the condition of the water pump, but that has crossed my mind a few times, what about the head gasket?

i had that problem and it was the radiator cap, i found that out after i changed the fan switch, thermo and flushed the engine..what happens is that the cap gets hot enough and the rubber starts messin, so get a new one and check it out it should not be more than $10

Its not leaking there, so I dont know that would cause any problems, but I will try to check it out.

Stupid, but important question, how to you "burp" the cooling system. Im going to flush the radiator, put a new thermostat in, and i bought a new radiator cap just to be safe....now I just need to know how to burp the system to insure all the air is out.

Can anyone give me any insight on how to burp the cooling system? I need to know soon, as I am going to do this later on this afternoon.
