Falken Azenis RT615 or Kumho MX for track days?
I've heard excellent things about both tires but I want to know what you guys would pick for DD and track driving.
I've head the MX's can handle heat better than the RT615 but then I've heard the RT615 has a stiffer sidewall than the MX's. So it's a trade off...
What would you guys chose?
Also if any one has any first hand experience with the RT615 and the MX on the track, please chime in.
Thanks!

I haven't driven on the 615's on track yet, but i have done track days with the MX's and the 215's. For track days I'd go with the MX's, the hotter the MX's got, the better they gripped. The falkens just got greasy and lost traction with heat. Not a good feeling when you're getting in the middle-end of a session and really getting in your groove to have the car start getting greasy on you.

I have asked on a WRX board, and have gotten multiple responses over there, I just also wanted to hear what you guys thought about the tires.

FYI, my experience on the MX was in my 04 STi. The falkens were on my ITR, i would imagine the falkens would fade off much more quickly on a heavier car like the STi.

I've used RT-615 Azenis on a stock GSR, in 105* summer heat on Street of Willow, and they never seemed to grease up on me until I started intentionally overdriving the car (wanted to learn to control a slide). Never used the 215s for comparison though. I've also used the 615s on modified suspenion on the big track at Willow Springs, and again, never had any issues with them greasing up. The first 4 or 5 laps were faster, but then the tires settled and stayed good for the full 30 minute session.

I'd imagine the MX's would last a little longer if that's any factor to you. I think both sets of tires can be had for about the same price now-a-days.
I priced the MX's at $286 shipped from tirerack. That was 205/15's.
I have no technical insight on either tire as I have not driven on either set yet.

Honestly, if you're using them for both daily driving and track days, neither tire will last more than a year - so you could try each of them over the next 2 seasons and decide for yourself which one you prefer. They're comparable tires, so it's not as if choosing either one will be a particularly bad move. You're also not competing on them, so it is a good opportunity for some testing without having to worry about which is faster.

Yeah that's what I plan to do. I'm going to go ahead and run the Mx's for now and then next set I'm gunna try the Azenis and compare them...Looking forward to it.

as far as both tires go I liked the MX for street and the Azenis for track
<-likes the stiffer sidewall for track use but is rough on the street comapred to the MX's softer sidewall
