ive got a 91 crx si with a 99 gsr drivetrain and i love the power . but i cant say that i love 4200 rpm at 80 mph in 5th gear.......

 

your only option is to put a LS fifth gear in.

 

what is the ratio and speed to rpm

 

i mean its just annoying to ride around in 5th goin 40 around town

 

gear speed sells an LS 5th that will work with your tranny housing. its like 2 and change if i recall correctly.

it will make you at a lower RPM for parkway crusing, obviosuly only in 5th gear, the rest will still pull hard.

 

i wish i could use a hf trans hahaha

 

is there a point to this thread other then you telling everyone you have a gsr tranny?

i can't stand my gearing, i hate having to shift into second gear at 10 mph..id almost rather just start off in second....anywho, the best tranny ive come accross gearwise that i like is the y7 tranny, my buddy has a dx civic and i like it a lot, he has hit 70 in second gear

 

um yea ...... i was just wondering if anyone else was unhappy with their around town driving gearing. it just sucks listening to that drone in 5th at 40mph.

 

I hate getting from my stock crx si to my 98 gsr.. the gear ratio in the CRX pwns... well atleast for cruising.

 

I thought you were going to complain about the GS-R trans being too tall. I drove a 97 GS-R and thought the gears were annoying tall compared to my 93 GS-R YS1.

You sound like a total *****, us J1/S1 drivers have it a lot worse.

What was the goal of this post? Were you actually posing a question to us or bragging that you have a 99 GSR tranny and therefore a hydro conversion kit?

man my brother has a b18a hatch with the b16 transmission. i love that thing haha. i would never take it for any kind of distance on the freeway but no matter what gear your in you can stomp on it and go. dont complain about your gears being too short. i thought this thread was gonna be some product to make em even shorter haha

 

then dont try a 4.9 final
maybe switch your final to a ls too, or just swap someone for a ls tranny you will make them very happy

Lol, I would love that! I'm going about 50 in third gear at 2000. My tranny is SLOW as *****.

But there is an Si coming...

 

hell yes i hate my tranny its a z6 in a hf with the hf tranny can you say 88 mph in 2nd gear

All this tranny crap is one of the reasons I chose as the route I did. Who wants to deal with rebuilding a 15 year old tranny, adding an LSD, and finding the fabled LS 5th gear, so that the mileage doesn't suck? I took the easy route, and it was a few $ cheaper than the built B I was gonna do. Thats why I posted here, because this is relevant, not just a I got a K I'm cool post. I just had to make you guys pry the info outa me....

i dont know about it being such an "easy route", but it'll all be well worth it when your done.

I have j1 tranny 80 mph at 4700 ish rpm's that's on my hx's 195-60-14

Freeway driving isn't that bad. But i love my Tranny short gears
