Default 95 Ignition... electronic problems...

So a couple days ago I noticed my digital clock was blinking on and off. Which im sure has something to do with the following problem... Not to mention in the last 8 months I've burned out 2 cd players...

I was driving and the car just shut off. Luckily i was moving slowly on a residential street. It's like it just stalled out. I start it back up and it starts fine. But if i left my hand off the key the car stops running. So to drive the thing, I've got to hold the ignition all the way forward. If I ever let go the car just shuts off. Do you guys have any idea what the problem could be. I wish it was just the ignition... but with the other problems i'm having, im afraid thats not it.

Man I'm glad that problem is over with my car! I had that happen to me in the middle of traffic and man I had never heard so many cars honk at me. Its your igniton lock assembly. New it costs about 230 used on ebay its about 80. I got mine from ebay and seems to work fine. The only thing I don't like is that I have to open the car and start it with seperate keys. Other than that its ok. Good luck

99% sure it's your ignition switch, which is half of the lock assembly and 1/4 of the price.

I don't think so because I got another switch and it wasn't it. So I returned it and ordered the ignition lock assembly. One way to check it is to take it off (the switch) and with a screw driver turn the ignition forward. If its the lock assembly the lights won't come on like they should. If its the switch everything should come on and the car should stay on once you start it. The man from Adavnce Auto Parts told me to check it like that and sure enough it was the lock assembly.
